69% of Americans now do not trust mass media. Do you think it is good or bad? Did propaganda just became that blatant that everyone sees it through? Or it always was and internet + social media now became a battleground of ideas leaving old media behind like a man yelling at clouds?

We are losing more and more privacy every day already. Bans on cryptography, phones tracking everything, voluntary giving our information to social media corporations. With current pandemic situation and headlines like these it's getting scary that governments will start acting totally stupid. The problem with this that everything that they will do will stay probably forever, way after the pandemic.

"Youth liberation" of the 1970s liberated "youth" as a symbolic totem and not actual young people. The retrenchments of the 1980s onward - higher drinking ages, smoking ages, higher ages of consent, curfew laws, etc. were all reminders that society was not willing to take young people seriously as people or to provide the material and sociocultural necessities of realizing anything approaching the sustainable realization of social equality. Little wonder that the likes of Reddit and Tumblr are preoccupied with the sexual "consent" of fictional adolescents in manga as some sort of exercise in progressive politics. The agency of young people - even their theoretical agency not respected as previously demonized groups gained theirs - has been so dismantled that it cannot even be imagined, let alone realized.

Australia just a few weeks ago became a total totalitarian dystopia. There are no free internet anymore, no freedom of speech and to top it up now police can fake any evidence against you and IT companies must oblige or else they face consequences. The Surveillance Legislation Amendment (Identify and Disrupt) Bill 2020 gives the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) three new powers for dealing with online crime: Data disruption warrant: gives the police the ability to "disrupt data" by modifying, copying, adding, or deleting it. Network activity warrant: allows the police to collect intelligence from devices or networks that are used, or likely to be used, by those subject to the warrant Account takeover warrant: allows the police to take control of an online account (e.g. social media) for the purposes of gathering information for an investigation.
