*NEW FEATURE!* I started working on heahy again and added Search feature. There aren't that many channels rn but it's going to be pretty useful later on. Tags now also are not completely useless. If you click on tag you will be redirected to search. The next thing I plan to work on is improvements on personal library and tags (with search and filtering use case). I see heahy is currently used that way by people - uploading/saving on public channels or saving/collecting to private libraries so I will try to improve this use case further.

*A new version of heahy.com is live!* No major new features this time, but we’ve fixed a lot of bugs and made several small UI improvements. The biggest changes happened behind the scenes: we completed a major backend refactoring. Because it was such a large update, we experienced some instability in the days following deployment—but things now seem more or less stable. These backend improvements lay the foundation for significantly better performance and scalability. With this in place, we’re planning to start promoting the site more seriously. We’ve also made preparatory progress on the Android app - the initial developer version is already working quite well! *What’s next?* All development effort is now focused on building the minimal moderation features required for the mobile app to meet app store guidelines. Channels will soon support policy tags - clear labels set by owners and enforced by moderators—that define content and speech rules. For example, an NSFW channel will carry an NSFW policy tag, and similar tags will indicate speech moderation levels (e.g., “free discussion,” “civility-enforced,” etc.). These tags help set expectations for everyone: owners, moderators, and participants alike. Once this moderation system is ready, we’ll begin testing the Android app - undoubtedly one of the most important missing pieces right now.

*About* I created heahy.com as a fun, anonymous corner of the internet. It’s inspired by the nostalgia of old-school IRC chat rooms, rebuilt as a modern, browser-based experience. In addition to real-time text chat, the site supports live video and audio calls, as well as sharing images and videos directly in the chat. No profiles. No algorithms. Just people connecting in real time. Hope you enjoy it.

Another update for heahy.com with a new feature! This time I've added "Save post" functionality. Now when you right click on a post or thread (or click setting gear icon) you will see an option to save the post. If you do that it will appear on your personal feed that only you can see. You can get there by clicking your username and then "My saved posts" button. Few other smaller updates: now when you enter channel name and it doesn't exist it will show confirmation dialog for creating it. Another update is that images on homepage now will be shown with full height right away and you won't need to click "show full" button. I have also removed mixpanel integration and facebook/twitter buttons.

Heahy is getting a bit more mature. We have added reporting functionality, so if you see anything illegal or against the rules, you can report it to channel owners and moderators, who in turn can easily see and manage reports and other channel settings in the updated channel management panel. After you create your own channel, simply click the "Manage Channel" button to see all options and check if there are any new reports from your channel users. Heahy has now also added tools to separate NSFW content from SFW content more easily. We have added NSFW flagging for all uploaded media, and from now on, everyone must mark NSFW media accurately. Also, by default, all NSFW content is blurred, and the user needs to click on it to see it. We also added the long-awaited user settings panel. For now, it's only to manage your NSFW settings (for example, remove blur by default), but stay tuned for more personalization options for your Heahy experience!

*Reactions and Emojis* Hello! I've released several versions of Heahy over the last few weeks, and now I can say the Reactions and Emojis functionality is fully integrated into the posting form so it's time for an official announcement. It's not just a simple reaction selector; there are also some nice features to make your posting experience more seamless. You can now use keyboard shortcuts in the posting form. For example, Alt+E opens the emoji picker and Alt+R opens the reactions picker. If you type ':', a small emoji picker appears for you to choose from. If you enter #, the text after it can be added as a tag without separately opening the tag input. If you copy-paste a link into a post, a dialog appears that allows you to embed that link if it's embeddable (e.g., YouTube, X, or a Heahy image/video post). No need to open the link input anymore! There were also multiple bug fixes and design improvements. I hope you like these new developments as my backlog is full of ideas, and more stuff is coming, so stay tuned!

Another small update - now you can right click the post which will open context menu. Share on Heahy option was added which will copy URL of the post that you can later use in your own post in other channel or thread.

Hello, we have deployed a new minor version. It mainly continues preparation for the mobile app release, and as part of that we have added an age gate for NSFW content. Some other new and exciting features: each channel now has very clear content and speech policy tags. For content: SFW, Occasional NSFW, and NSFW. For speech: Free speech, Open debate, and Like-minded space. Channel owners must set these tags and manage their communities accordingly. For example, an Open debate channel cannot delete opposing viewpoints, otherwise channel ownership or the moderation team may be changed. The same applies to content rules: if a channel is marked as SFW, moderation must be strict and any NSFW content must be removed. Owners may allow limited exceptions, but in that case they must use another new feature - clearly stated channel rules. We also updated the design of the channel management panel, so go ahead, create your own channel, configure it, and start posting on heahy!

NEW DESIGN! It took me quite some time to work on it but I finally deployed! Sure there are many issues right now and not everything is tested and finished but it will get there in time. I know the site was mostly used for "collections" of media and even my friends who were trying and using it mostly asked for features like search and better tagging and better ways to organize media, but my intention was to have more discussions going first. So instead of focusing on images and videos I would like the site to be a bit more friendly for conversations and discussions. Also to be more friendly for mobile devices. This new design is an attempt to do just that. If you have any bugs, issues, remarks, proposals, anything really please let me know and I will do my best to fix. Regards!

NEW VERSION: This update got rid of one very annoying thing. Now when you click back from thread to channel - it will immediately load it and put you at exactly the same position. Same when selecting conversation (double click on post) in the thread. When you go back to main thread conversation - you get back to the same spot. It seems like a simple fix but it was not that simple so please report any issues that you might find.

NEW VERSION: Small update and a new feature. I have noticed that in some channels each thread is used as a simple post. I also had some feedback regarding threads shown in catalog mode in channels. So the new feature now allows you to choose between catalog mode or scroll mode when browsing threads in channel. If you create a new channel you can also choose which mode you want visitors to see by default. If for example in your channel each thread is a separate discussion then catalog mode makes more sense. On the other hand if your channel is more like #memes where each thread is simply a new meme, then scroll mode should be better. I have already changed default setting on some of those channels. Of course owners can still decide to use whatever setting they like.
